Well positioned on the northern edge of a classic southern low, the Maxi Trimaran of The Famous Project CIC all-female crew is enjoying beautiful days of high-speed sailing in the north of the "forgotten" islands at the end of the world, Prince Edward, Crozet, and Kerguelen.

Sailing at a constant speed of between 25 and 30 knots, IDEC SPORT is comfortable in these rough seas, with waves over 4 meters high and a disorderly swell that it rides without causing too much discomfort to its crew. Alexia Barrier, Dee Caffari, Annemieke Bes, Rebecca Gmür Hornell, Deborah Blair, Molly LaPointe, Támara Echegoyen, and Stacey Jackson have embraced the intensity that only exists in the deep south, more vigilant and focused than ever on the boat's speed and efficiency.

Gradually, the low-pressure system passed them by as it races eastward, and with the wind shifting and weakening, the end of the weekend will bring a new round of gybes and sail changes to gain southward and get closer to the great circle route (the shortest distance between two points on the Earth's surface).

A little over 2 100 miles from Cape Leeuwin (Australia) this morning, the sailors of The Famous Project CIC could give themselves a Christmas present by reaching this legendary cape, the second major milestone of their round the world voyage...
